Gerhard Deiters

Gerhard Deiters is specialised in data protection law since 2008. He has been providing comprehensive training in data protection law since 2010 and has played a leading role as a lawyer in various major projects in the field of data protection, for example in the creation of “Binding Corporate Rules” in an international group and in the implementation of the requirements of the GDPR in a large number of companies and public authorities. He is currently Chief Privacy Officer of the FUCHS Group and Data Protection Officer of KLEO Connect GmbH and GrapeCheck GmbH.

Gerhard Deiters studied law at the University of Cologne. After his first state examination, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Private International Law and Comparative Law and later at a commercial law firm in Cologne, where he also completed his legal clerkship. He completed his administrative station at the German Embassy in Jakarta and his optional station at eBay GmbH in Dreilinden near Berlin. Prior to joining BHO Consulting GmbH, he worked for several years as a lawyer at a major German law firm in IT, telecommunications and data protection law, where he was one of the main contacts for data protection issues. During this time, he also worked as Data Protection Officer for one of the largest German engineering companies in the fields of buildings, transport and energy and environment. Gerhard Deiters has been a partner in the law firm BHO Legal in Cologne since 2014.

Dr Matthias Lachenmann

Dr Lachenmann specialises in technology and data protection law, with a particular focus on international group data protection, project management, employee data protection and industry 4.0. With his industry focus on Digital Business/Marketing, Manufacturing Companies and Fashion, he primarily advises on data protection with an interface to technology law. He advises international groups (in the Forbes 500 and 2000 lists), German and European medium-sized companies with a global focus and data-driven SMEs on all questions of data protection law, in particular on the GDPR. He is appointed Data Protection Officer at several international companies.

Dr Lachenmann was admitted to the bar in 2011 and has been advising on data protection law since then. Previously, he worked for a Bonn-based employment and data protection law boutique and a data protection consultancy. He studied law in Augsburg, completed his training in Frankfurt a.M. and Milan and received his doctorate under Professor Dr Jürgen Taeger at the University of Oldenburg on “Data Transmission within the Group”. He regularly lectures on data protection law, including as a lecturer in the training of Data Protection Officers at “UDIS GmbH” (with GDPR seminars since 2016) and the training of specialist lawyers for IT and labour law at webinars of the publishing house Dr Otto Schmidt. He publishes continuously on data protection and is known nationwide as the editor of the “Formularhandbuch Datenschutzrecht” (form manual on data protection law) at C.H. Beck.

Dr Philip Lüghausen

Dr Lüghausen mainly advises on data protection law and data law in connection with the commercial use of data. He supported numerous clients in the implementation and continuous improvement of processes for compliance with the GDPR. Due to the increasing importance of data protection and data rights, Dr Lüghausen has particular experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of data protection contracts with more than 80 order-processing agreements and contracts on joint responsibility.

Dr Lüghausen advises several leading multinational and international pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers on data protection law. This includes advising on the implementation of processes relating to the GDPR both in all commercial applications and with special regard to clinical and non-clinical research projects. He has been a regular lecturer at “FORUM Institut für Management GmbH” since 2014 and conducts training courses for company management and employees on data protection law issues in the pharmaceutical industry. He is a member of the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright Law (GRUR) and of NRW.uniTS, a network project funded by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Verena Mevißen

Verena Mevißen is managing director of BHO Consulting GmbH. She is mainly responsible for the office management and the leadership of the company.

Verena Mevissen is studying law at the University of Cologne. Since then she has worked for the Institute for Air and Space Law at the University of Cologne and the law firm BHO Legal PartG mbB in Cologne, among others. At the latter law firm, she mainly worked in the field of corporate organisation.
